First HEIRRI Conference Drew 150 Educational Experts

In mid-March, Lars Nyre, Astrid Gynnild and Frode Guribye from the ViSmedia participated at the first European conference on RRI and higher education, HEIRRI, in Barcelona.
The researchers constitute the leadership team of the ViSmedia project, and presented the first results from an exploratory research project on camera drones in education at the University of Bergen.
Around 150 people from more than 20 countries gathered at the “Teaching Responsible Research and Innovation at University” HEIRRI conference, which provided panels, workshops and experts lectures. The two-day conference took place on March 18 and 19 in the CosmoCaixa Science Museum in Barcelona. There were representatives from higher education institutions, research centres, institutions of formal and informal learning, public institutions, and the industry, as well as from civil society organisations. More than 50 people attended the ViSmedia presentation by Lars Nyre.
“There is a clear call for more democratic research and innovation to contribute to social progress and wellbeing,” HEIRRI states on their website. HEIRRI is a European project funded under the Horizon 2020 programme, aimed to integrate the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the science and engineering degrees.
